Pet Portraits | Yota the Boston Terrier | My Right Hand Gal

Yota the Boston Terrier

Meet my right hand gal... This is Yota. Yes with a T.

Yota is a 7 year old Boston Terrier. I got her when she was 12 weeks old and she has been by my side ever since. We pretty much go everywhere together, except for when my adventures take me on a plane.

I grew up always having animals around. We had dogs, horses, cats, chickens, mice, hamsters, fish, bunnies, and the list goes on. When I moved out to go to school my home was empty. It was a strange feeling to not have something by my side.

It never felt right not having a dog by my side. I grew up with my old dog Maybel and she went everywhere with me for 13 years. My entire life, I was always with a dog, so not having one just wasn't working for me. So, one day, I made the decision that I just had to have a dog. No questions asked.

I have always been a big dog person, and I reaaallllyyyyy wanted a Grate Dane. I started researching various big dogs and there were so many to choose from. Now, I live in a small 700 square foot apartment and I began to wonder how that would work... having a "horse" in my living room. Honestly, I couldn't imagine anything other than a big dog. I haven never liked small dogs. They just aren't my thing.

So.... the search was on. What kind of small dog could I get, that wasn't soooo small, that didn't bark all the time, and would be something that I enjoyed? You see, ultimately I just wanted a companion. Well, my search lead me to Boston Terriers. Everything about a Boston was exactly what I wanted. They are meant to be companion dogs, they have energy but not too much energy, they aren't too small, and they aren't too big.

To make a long story short, I ended up with Yota. She was the first Boston Terrier I went to look at, and I just couldn't say no. I had to have her. I took her home in November of 2011 and she has been by my side ever since. I took her to doggy training classes (really just to force myself to take the time to train her), and the rest is history.

Yota is seriously everything I could ask for in a dog. She is well behaved, lovey, energetic when she needs to be, and lazy pretty much the rest of the time. She can hike for 14 miles in a day, or she can curl up under a blanket on the couch and be there all day.

Ever since getting her, I will probably always have a Boston by my side :)

Wishing you nothing but the best,

Ok, so the title pretty much says it all. Can you get any cuter than this little girl?! I think not!

“Happiness is a warm puppy.” ― Charles M. Schulz

This past week I was able to head to Sonora and get some adorable family pet portraits of this cutie pie. Her name is Tootsie, but her nickname is 'The Cuteness' and rightfully so. When looking at this little one you can't help but smile, chuckle, and then do a 'ahhhh... she is so cute' kind of sigh.

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” ― Roger A. Caras

Puppies are like little babies. They grow up so incredibly fast. Make sure that you take the time to document this fleeting moment. Doggies are family, and they will be in your life for quite some time, but never long enough. Don't miss the opportunities to take those needed pictures so you can look back on them an go 'ahhhhh, how cute!'.

If you are looking to have your pet's portraits taken, send me an email or use the contact form here.

Wishing all the happiest Friday.

I absolutely love animals! Growing up, my family always had animals. We had dogs, cats, horses, fish, hamsters, and much more.

Just a few months ago, I was lucky enough to photograph this adorable Boston Terrier. Her name is Tazzle. At the time she was only 8 weeks old. Since she was so young it made it quite easy to photograph her. All she wanted to do was sit on her owners lap and sleep.

This was such a fun shoot and I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

My absolute favorite photo out of the entire day is the one where she is yawning. It was such a great moment to capture. Leave a comment and let me know which picture is your favorite.
