5 Helpful Elopement Tips

1.Pick your dream location

Don’t just pick a location because it is easy, because other people eloped there, you are just going to ‘run away together’. Really try to vision yourself in your ‘dream location’. Some questions to ask yourself when choosing your dream location to elope:

  • Where would you ultimately love to be when you say ‘I do’?

  • What is your favorite spot in the world?

  • Where is a spot that you and your partner go to all the time? Do you have a special spot? Maybe a spot that you met, a favorite vacation spot?

  • Is there a spot that you have always wanted to go, but never made it to? Your dream vacation? Maybe a spot that you both always said you would love to make it to some day?

  • What truly speaks you? Do you love the mountains, the ocean, the country, the desert?

Remember, this is your big day. You are only going to get to choose this once. So really make it special. Don’t just run away together. Run away in a meaningful way. Make it memorable, make it an adventure, make it truly special. Give it

2. Be yourself

Elopements are all about you and your partner so make sure that you make it memorable. Still do all the things, get a gorgeous wedding dress, get your hair done, get a bouquet, but ultimately do it for you. If that is what you have always dreamed of DO IT!

Maybe you always wanted to have a black wedding dress, or maybe you hate bouquets…. well then wear that dress and don’t bother with a bouquet! This is all about you and your fiance. What screams you? What screams your love? Whatever it is, do that.

3. Hire a photographer

Elopements are really all about your love and having an amazing adventure starting your life together. You aren’t going to have people at your wedding. You are going to want to capture those memories and be able to share those memories with your family and your friends. The only way you are going to be able to do that is through photographs. These photographs are going to last a lifetime, they are going to tell your story, they are going to capture your memories, and they are going to be something that you will be able to share with generations to come.

If you are looking for a photographer I would absolutely love to chat with you!

4. Keep it small

Are you wanting to have guests? That is awesome, but really try to keep it small in order to keep the intimacy of your elopement. Think about the absolute most important people in your life. Who has always been there for you and who will be there with you forever? Those will be the people that you will want to have at your ceremony.

5. Remember marriage laws are different all over the place

Honestly this is incredibly important to planning your elopement. It is going to take some time and a bit of research. The last thing that you would want is to travel across the world to elope and not have the right documentations for it. You are also going to want to consider the culture of the area. Some places don’t sell alcohol, some places don’t sell alcohol on a Sunday, so if you wanted to celebrate with champagne or by shot gunning a beer that would definitely be something to consider.

I sure hope you enjoyed these tips. Make sure to comment below if you have any questions about eloping. I would absolutely love to help you out, answer any questions that you might have, and really help you relax and enjoy your big day.
