This session may have just taken the winning spot! Holy awesomeness is all I have to say. Typically with my blogs I try to have about 10ish photos; however, I just couldn't choose! So this one has.... well.... ALOT more than normal. LOL. I guess I could say I'm sorry, but I'm not:)

When I was contacted to take Mya's senior portraits up at Pinecrest I was absolutely thrilled. Pinecrest is such an amazing place to take portraits and I just couldn't wait!

I met Mya and her Mama up at the Forest Service parking lot. The plan was to head over to the lake, get some photos in the woods and then get the remainder of the photos at the lake.

Well, as we were driving along there was this absolutely amzing meadow with the most beautiful golden light that you ever did see. I stopped and asked the girls what they thought and they were completely up for a change in plans! All I have to say is YAY!!! I freaking love when my people trust me and are down for anything!

After the meadow we headed into the woods for a bit more of a glam session. I love a natural setting with a fancy dress. Let me tell you, the it is awesome and the contrast just really is so spectacular. I always tell my, clients when they are thinking about outfits, to bring at least one fancy item, unless that is just completely not you, but if it is, it is always an awesome outfit to incorporate into the session. We typically don't stay in this outfit for more than about 10 minutes. This is just enough time to get some pretty awesome shots all dressed up.

While Mya was changing into another outfit I found another meadow with some beautiful wildflowers! Of course we had to dance and twirl :)

Let me tell you, this girl was up for anything and she is the absolute sweetest. When she smiles she lights up the room. She smiles and a glow just comes about her that changes everything.

After adventuring into various meadows we finally found our way to the lake! Ahh, Pinecrest you are so beautiful (insert all the heart eyed emojis here).

Mya brought along her guitar and she strung a few chords as I walked around taking some shots. I mean how cool is she?! For realz though?!

Thank you so much Mya for trusting me with all my crazy ideas and for being so dang easy going. Thank you so much for allowing me to be your photographer during this super special time in your life. You are so gorgeous and such an amazing person! I am so glad that I get to say I know you.

Clovis West Senior Portraits - Diana - Fresno Photographer

Clovis West Senior Portraits

Diana

by Bessie Young Photography

Ohhhh myyyy gosshhhhhh!!! All I have to say is that this girl is absolutely amazing!

Diana reached out to me via Instagram to get her portraits taken while she was in town traveling from her home in New York! How cool is that?! All I can say is that it was just meant to be.

Since Diana was visiting from out of town she wasn't quite sure where to go to get her portraits taken. After asking a few questions we decided that Clovis West was the absolute perfect place to go. It was close to where she was staying and had that total city vibe that she was looking for.

I absolutely love when my girls ask for suggestions on where to get their pictures taken. Don't ever be afraid to ask your photographer for suggestions because guaranteed they have some pretty freaking cool spots to go :)

We met up at Clovis West for a sunset portrait session in order to get that beautiful golden light. Diana is one of the easiest people to get along with. She is outgoing, spunky, and a total girl boss! Her smile is absolutely contagious, and can we just stop for a moment and admire her hair? Talk about total hair goals :)

The session went until sundown and just a bit after because we lost track of time and were having so much dang fun! Thank you so much Diana for reaching out to me to be your photographer. It was such an absolute blast! You have so much talent and you are the absolute sweetest! I know you will do great things!

Grandparent and Grandchildren Session

I was beyond excited to get a phone call about being the photographer for a grandparent and grandchildren session. When it was mentioned, I thought to myself... This is the BEST idea ever!

This session took place in Sanger, CA on an a beautiful farm. The grandchildren were staying with their grandparents for a few weeks out of the summer and this session was meant to document this special time in all of their lives.

For each session, I scope out the area prior to and then determine what would be best for the portraits. My approach for this session was slightly different than most. I wanted to get traditional family portraits while also documenting their time out on the farm. The first spot to start off the session was in the orchard. This made for some beautiful images.

We then moved from the orchard to the backyard to get some more documentary type of images. These 4 little ones were the absolute cutest! They were so much fun and full of life.

If you are looking for to document a special time in your life with beautiful images please send me a message by emailing me or using this contact form.

Wishing you all a wonderful summer vacation!

Sonora Elementary Graduation 8th Grade Portraits | Abbie

Sonora Elementary Graduation

8th Grade Portraits

Abbie

by Bessie Young Photography

Any graduation day is a big day.... Pre-school graduation, 8th grade graduation, high school graduation, and college graduation. No matter which graduation comes and goes, these days are some of the biggest days of our lives. These are days that we want to remember. These are days that we want to document and these are days that are perfect days for portraits.

Sonora Elementary Graduation day was one of these big days. We began by getting Abbie's hair done, and then taking some Sonora Elementary Graduation 8th grade portraits. These were so so so much fun. Abbie got her first very own kitten for her graduation present and let me tell you these pictures are to die for!

It is amazing how fast time flies. Growing up, I always thought it was just silly when grown ups said something like that. It seems like a year of school never ended and Christmas was always so far away. Since I graduated college, the years have been flying before my eyes and I cannot seem to get it to slow down.

This month Abbie, my oldest niece, graduated 8th grade. I am so incredibly excited for her to start this new adventure; however, I am in a bit of denial that she is already out of elementary school and onto high school. She is such a sweet soul and I can't wait to see the woman that she becomes, but I hope that it comes a little later rather than sooner :)

I had so much fun taking these graduation portraits and of course we had to get one with the family dog Moose!

Abbie, you are such an incredibly special person. Your smile lights up any room you go into and your kindness will fix anyone's bad day. I am so lucky to be your Aunt and can't wait to see all the fun adventures that high school brings.

Spring Cake Smash - Josephine Turned One | Red Hills California Portraits

Spring Cake Smash - Josephine Turned One

One of the greatest gifts is a daughter. Ace Frehley

I cannot believe that it has been a whole year since I took little Josephine's newborn portraits. She is such a cutie, with the biggest eyes, the cutest laugh, and she is always trying to make you smile. Her personality is contagious and I am so honored to be able to document her first year. I thought her 6 month portraits were to die for, but her one year portraits has topped it! Red Hills California was just starting to show signs of Spring and this made for the most perfect location. The yellow flowers made for a blanket of gold and the creek running in the background made for an optimal evening of pictures.

We started off with fun portraits to document her turning one. At first we played in the flowers and then started walking. The flowers tickled little Josephine's toes as we adventured down to the creek.

After the sun began to set, it was cake smash time. Josephine wasn't quite sure what to do with the cake, but after a little bit of time she began to dig in, mainly enjoying the delicious frosting.

The entire time she wanted to show off  her delicious cake and she continuously tried to make everyone laugh with her little giggles and fun noises.

This session was absolutely amazing. It was the perfect weather, at the perfect location, and with the perfect one year old.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog and browsing through these images. If you are in search for a photographer I would absolutely love to talk with you. Please feel free to email be or you can even use this contact form.

Wishing you all nothing but happiness and a beautiful Spring!

5 Tips To Rock Your Couples Session

Rock Your Couples Session

by Bessie Young Photography

Valentines day is just around the corner and Summer is coming quicker that we realize. With this means engagements and couples portrait sessions! If you have a portrait session planned and aren't positive on what to expect or how to actually make it go well, do not fret! I have 5 tips for you on how to rock your couples session :)

  • Don't Stress Out : If you are stressed it isn't going to be fun for you. Have fun and enjoy yourself. After all this photo session is for you and your family.
  • Wear what you want to wear : Stop worrying about what others wear to their session. Be yourself. These images are to document this special time in your life. If you want to be fancy, be fancy. If you want to be casual then be causal. Ultimately wear whatever makes you feel confident. Wear something that makes you feel beautiful and something that you are comfortable in.
  • Make a day out of it : After all this is your couples session! You took the time to get ready for it, you did your hair and makeup, and you have on an outfit that you feel amazing in. Take the day and enjoy it. Go out to dinner after the session. If you enjoy the day and make it more of a date where the portrait session is part of your day date, then the pictures are going to come out that much better!
  • Be yourself : Don't act the way you feel you should act during a couples portrait session. Be yourself. You want to be able to relate to the images. The best images are when the true emotions come out.
  • Forget that it is a photoshoot: Ok, so this is easier said than done especially if you don't have your pictures taken very often; however, just remember that this photoshoot is for you and your family. You scheduled it for you. This is to document this special time in your life. Just remember that this time is for you.
  • I hope you enjoyed this. If you have any suggestions on how to rock your couples session, or if you have any questions about it, leave a comment below. Also, if you are looking to schedule a session please contact me using this contact form, or you can always email me. For prices, check out my pricelist here.

Wishing you nothing but love and happiness!

Family is not an important thing. It's everything. Michael J. Fox

My absolute favorite time of year is the Fall. The weather starts to get cooler, the trees start to change color, and family pictures are in high demand. This year I was lucky enough to be able to take one of my sisters Sonora family portraits. These portraits are so incredibly special to me and I am so excited to share a few with you!

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. Desmond Tutu

Once September rolls around, I begin to get quite a few calls about family portraits and scheduling a session. Unfortunately, this year, I had to turn a few families away as I was booked during the time that they wanted the session. So I have a couple of tips to make sure that you get your family portraits scheduled:

    1. Plan ahead: Plan out with your family the best time and place to have your session. This way everyone can mark their calendar for the session and it is something that they can look forward to rather than feeling rushed.
    2. Book your family session prior to September 1st: Once the holidays get closer more and more people want to have Christmas cards to go out to family and friends. Quite a few photographers are already booked up. If you get your session scheduled prior to September 1st you will most likely get the exact date that you want whether that be for sometime in October, November, or sometime in December. As long as you schedule and book the date with your photographer, you have nothing to worry about.
    3. Don't be afraid to have your family session any time during the year: You don't necessarily need to have your family session during the last part of the year in order to have Christmas cards ready. You can always plan you family session during the Spring or Summer.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. If you did don't forget to subscribe and leave a comment :) If you are looking to schedule a family session send me a message by using
